A donor's view
Blood drives at school don't happen often - but when they do one should be inclined to donate if they can.
Senior Kaylee Smith explained her experience when she first donated blood. "My first time donating was kinda scary, I'm scared of needles so I talked to the phlebotomist about frogs when they put it in," said Smith. "After that I was fine until I threw up."
After donating this year at the school blood drive, Kaylee explained the difference to when she first donated blood. "This time donating went as expected, except I almost passed out this time," said Smith. "However that is because I weighed more the other times I had donated and also the needle bothered me more this time.
Despite this struggle, Kaylee Smith has continued to donate and plans to donate again. "I absolutely plan to donate again," explained Smith. "I have bad reactions, but I think a day or two of discomfort is worth it if people's lives can be saved."
