Bands of America Competition Recap

10/21/2024

This past Friday, October 18th, the Red Pride Marching Band competed in a preliminary contest for the annual Bands of America competition.

Junior Norman Wagner, a member of the tuba section in the marching band, recounted the experience. "I felt like we had potential for doing something really good, we had put in a lot of practice beforehand," said Wagner. "Personally, I felt like my run of the show was pretty good. I think that we had a strong start but sort of leveled out as the show went on."

In the end, Plainfield placed 34/95~, with a score of 74.050. Although the band did not move on to finals, they still placed in the upper third of the competition. "The high school's marching band is overall really good with participation," said Wagner. "Our staff helped to build a good program."

The band plans to compete this Saturday at semi-state competition.
