After an exciting competition, the varsity cheer team advanced to state, continuing the three-year streak. Senior Hannah Arkins, a cheerleader on the team, expressed her pride in the team.

"We had been working very hard for that all season, so it was awesome to see the work pay off," she said. "It is always super cool to be there in that environment and get the opportunity to experience it again for the final time."

As a senior, Arkins said she will miss the team greatly, and recalled some of her favorite memories. "My favorite memories from the team are when we are all just having fun together," she said. "Whether it is at practice, a game or a competition. We all love to laugh and have fun."

To anyone thinking of joining the team, Arkins gave a few pieces of advice, saying, "It is a great opportunity and a fun environment to be in. It is a good way to get involved in the school, students and staff. But, it also does require skill and commitment," said Arkins. "Many people underestimate cheerleading, but there is a lot more work that goes into it that people do not realize. It takes a lot of physical and mental skill to be a cheerleader. I absolutely love the interactions we are able to have with the student body. It doesn't hurt to try."
