Choir Competition
Congratulations are in order! Last week, PHS's Femme Fatales and Belles et Beaux attended and earned many awards at their choir competition. Femme Fatales won Grand Champion, Best Vocals, Best Choreography, Best Show Design and Best Performer while Belles et Beaux won Grand Champion, Best Vocals, Best Choreography and Best Performer. The Show Band earned Highest Scoring Band of the Competition.
As a member of both Femme Fatales and Belles et Beaux, junior Callista Clark was very excited to win best performer in the Femme Fatales group.
"It was my first time ever getting best performer," she said. "I wasn't expecting it, really. I have a couple solos in the group that I won it in. I really tried to perform my best and I feel like I did." Clark has gained plenty of experience since her freshman year.
"Especially since joining choir leadership, it has helped me grow a lot," she said.
There are five songs per show, and Clark's personal favorites were the opener for Belles et Beaux and the closer for Femme Fatales.
""Nothing Better" is my favorite for Femme Fatales because I have a solo in it, so I like doing it," she said. Clark described the song as exciting and fun, as was Femme Fatales last song.
"Our opener for Belles et Beaux is just really cool and we sound really good doing it, so I like it," she said.
Clark described a funny memory from the competition that she will carry with her.
"We have hair extensions in for the entire shows, and one of my hair extensions fell out in our finals performance of Belles et Beaux," she said.
"I had to perform the rest of the show without a hair extension. It was really funny. I was a little stressed at first, but then I took my hair extension out, threw it under the risers and kept performing."
