IHSPA field trip recap

On Friday, January 31st the PHS Publications Department, as well as the Broadcasting Department,boarded a school bus for a field trip to Franklin College for the annual IHSPA Awards. To publications director Michelle Burress, it was a great opportunity for students to learn all about the career. "The field trip helps the students interact with other student journalists, plus it is an opportunity to be recognized for their work," said Burress. "The students get new ideas to try and they learn from professionals in the field." Burress, who directs the activity "The awards ceremony was special because the Quaker Shaker won the State championship," said Burress. "Unlike bands or choirs, we don't get to perform for people, so a lot of times no one really knows what we do. When the kids get recognized for their achievements it means a lot."
