ISSMA Band State Contest

Saturday, April 13, PHS Bands went to their annual ISSMA State contest. Both bands scored high, with period 1 earning Gold with a Silver in sight reading, and period 4 earning Gold and a Gold in sight reading.

"I was mostly expecting to do well in both groups I was performing in, as I felt really comfortable with performing the pieces in the groups," said junior band member Adam Jones.

For other performers, Jones shared a piece of wisdom. "I would say just relaxing and performing comfortably is key. The judges aren't there just to criticize you, they're there to give you feedback and help you become a better performer," said Jones. "If you play as comfortably as you can, you'll be set to play as best as you can."
