Next Generation Hoosier Scholarship
All seniors pursuing education as a career are encouraged to apply to the Next Generation Hoosier Scholarship. This scholarship is a renewable $10,000 a year scholarship for seniors planning to pursue a career in education. To get this scholarship, students must agree to teach for five years at an Indiana school.
"It's a great scholarship for students interested in education," said counselor John Newbold. "They should pay attention to the eligible schools list to see what kind of schools they would have to teach at, and make sure they know about that requirement."
Along with agreeing to teach at an Indiana school, there are a couple eligibility requirements students have to meet to apply. Students who apply and are accepted get many benefits. "$40,000 would come pretty close to covering tuition at a public Indiana school," said Newbold, "And coming out of college with little or no debt would be great, especially on a teacher's salary."
