Parade your pride

Prepare to parade your pride this weekend! The annual quaker day parade is set for Saturday, September 21st.

The parade starts at 9:00 AM and lasts for about an hour. Senior Dawson Martin participates in the parade every year, and is excited to do so again this year. "I walk with the choir, my mom works at FC Tucker, so I walked with them too before I was in choir." Said Martin. "Sometimes I walk, sometimes I throw candy, sometimes I just sit on the float and look pretty. Overall the goal is to just be entertaining."

Many local businesses and organizations walk in the parade every year, and it's a great opportunity to gain publicity for their groups. "Not many people know we have all these things, like the Corvette Club. I love seeing those cars but I don't really know that we have that until the parade happens, its not something you see every day." Said Martin. "The parade gives people a chance to get out and watch the town get to know us, see what we're about."
