Shoe Drive
April 22 marks the start of the Environmental Club's annual Shoe Drive. Donations are starting today and ending Friday, April 26.
The shoe drive is a charity event in which students can donate old shoes to charity, and then those shoes will go to people in need.
Co-president Seyla Ray, explained the goal for the shoe drive. "We want to provide some free footwear to those who need it," she said. "Additionally, people don't often give away shoes, they just throw them out, so this is a good way to reuse old things."
Ray reflected over last year's shoe drive. "We were pleasantly surprised with the outcome; actually, we didn't think there would be great results," said Ray. "I don't remember the exact shoe count but it was a little over 100, I'm hoping that we'll have just as good if not better of a turnout this year."
If one has old shoes to donate, bring them to Andrea Birke, Environmental Club sponsor.
