First Spirit Day of year sees much student participation

Students lined up dressed in red and blue on August 22 for the first PTO (Parent Teacher Organization) Spirit Day of the school year.

PTO member Rachelle Naaman believes that spirit days positively impact the student body. "Days like this get students to engage with us and brighten up students' days by having them come up and have a piece of candy and a chance at winning a $15 gift card," she said.

Naaman compared her experiences with school spirit in high school to that of today's students. "We didn't have spirit days in my day. Spirit today is different because it is harder to get students to be active," she explained. "The PTO likes to be present in the school to show students that there is an organization that is trying to advocate for them. We do activities like the dances or the Freshman Tailgate to get the students to be more involved and engaged with everybody."
