Riley Dance Marathon

On Friday, April 26, the annual Riley Dance Marathon took place, showcasing many students' efforts to raise money for Riley Hospital, a hospital that delivers cost-free services to kids in need.

During the event, students and other visitors who attended were treated to free food, dodgeball games and many other activities.

"We didn't have as many students attend this year, but we hope to increase our numbers next year," said teacher and Riley Dance Marathon committee member Rachel Freeman. "Those that did attend had a great time though, so we hope they spread the word to their friends."

Even if the number of attendees were small, the emotions and donations were grand. At the end of the night, revealed by teacher and guest speaker Christian Arvin, a total of $17,953.43 dollars were raised collectively by donations between other student organizations like the National Honors Society. The gym erupted with cheering and smiles as students truly realized the mass amount of money they had raised.

"I have been involved with Riley Dance Marathon for over ten years now," said Freeman. "I love being able to help Riley Children's Hospital and I think it's important for our students to learn to help others. Riley Dance Marathon is a fun way to give back and I hope that some of our members go on to be a part of Riley Dance Marathon at the college level."
