Show Choir Preliminary Competition

On Saturday, March 9, PHS showchoirs Femmes Fatales, Belles et Beaux and Nouvelles attended their last preliminary competition of the season at Lawrence Central High School. The Femmes Fatales were the grand champions of the evening, winning best visuals and tying for best vocals.

Senior Madigan Cherwa, a member of Femmes Fatales, recounted both of the group's performances that day. "Overall, I think we did really well. We all worked hard and we definitely deserved that win. In terms of changes, I think our first performance was kind of mid, but we accepted that and took that into account when performing for finals" said Cherwa. "Our finals performance was a significantly stronger performance with much cleaner visuals and better vocals. While there's no such thing as a perfect run, I think we were all proud of that second run."

Both Femmes Fatales and Belles et Beaux will continue to compete in the State competition this Saturday, March 15, and Cherwa has high hopes. "I think if we keep up the work and time we are putting into our show, we can definitely come away somewhere in the top three. Ultimately, it really depends on the effort every girl puts into her performance. Even if we don't win first, I want everyone to be proud of the work they've put in and love what this show has become," said Cherwa. "If I had to give advice, I'd say that we should keep up the good work and put our all into rehearsal and our performance. I'd say everyone should be proud of how far they've come, and be ready to absolutely kick butt at State."
