Spanish Sponsoring Christmas Family
With Christmas coming up, Spanish teacher Jamie Nichols's Spanish class is preparing to sponsor families in need for the holiday season.
"We started by sponsoring one family several years ago and were amazed by all of the interest," said Nichols. "Over time, it has evolved and grown, and this year we have ten children from three different families."
It all started when Nichols's Spanish club learned of a Spanish speaking family in need. Since then, many other students within the club and class discovered interest in helping those in need. Now, it is an event many students look forward to during the Christmas season.

"The best part is seeing the generosity, genuine concern and care from our students," said Nichols. "Many go shopping and spend their own money to make someone else's Christmas brighter."
With so many people and students wanting to get involved to help these families, Nichols's class had to limit the amount of gifts a pair could get because others wouldn't get the chance to give to the families.
"There are many families in our community that need assistance all year long," said Nichols. "If one is interested, contact any of the school counselors or the Plainfield Youth Assistance Program."
