Student Pitch Competition

12/06/2023

Any high school student residing in Hendricks County has the opportunity to sign up for the Student Pitch Competition by December 6, 2023. Participants must register by December 6, and submit their short video with a slide deck by December 20th.

"The purpose of the class is to learn and understand entrepreneurship," said business teacher Jeff McKeon. "It gives the students a chance to display their knowledge in the subject area and an ability to be creative."

Participants can compete alone or with a team. The project consists of three parts: preparing an executive summary, submitting a pitch video and slide deck and presenting for a cash prize.

Many long-term benefits come with joining this competition. "There is the opportunity to compete against others in the county with a chance to win scholarship money," said McKeon. It is also a great introduction into the business world, since many jobs have business components in them.

"Individuals with a business background are well-positioned to pursue a variety of roles in an industry they find interesting," said McKeon. "Students who study business have the opportunity to develop core skills across an array of subjects including accounting, finance, project management, information technology (IT), human resources (HR), marketing, international business, logistics, and organizational behavior."
