Trike-A-Thon
Put your pedal to the metal, because the annual PHS Trike-A-Thon is happening this Saturday. The Trike-A-Thon is a fundraiser and a class get-together for the students in Jessica Breidinger's life skills class.
"We started the Trike-A-Thon in 2015 because our classes were getting bigger and we wanted to be able to keep doing our job program," said Breidinger.
The fundraiser is a two-hour long event full of things to do for students and adults alike. "At 1:30 the music starts and the party begins. Students, friends, and family start riding bikes, visiting Santa, playing games, and browsing the auction items as the Christmas music plays. Students will participate in the different activities while their parents can explore the special education resource fair and connect with other parents," said Breidinger.

The Trike-A-Thon started out as just a walk-a-thon with bikes, but grew into something more interactive and enjoyable for the participants. According to Breidinger, "We needed to do more than just students walking laps, so we came up with a silent auction. It has grown into a big Christmas party fundraiser that all of the parents look forward to and love."
The event is a great way to connect with friends and family, and helps out the life skills department by allowing students in the life skills class to connect with other students and hopefully convince them to take Peer Tutoring. "My favorite part is seeing the families connect," said Breidinger. "I love getting to meet up with the student's parents and seeing the kids have fun."
