Uggs Appreciation

Running late to the bus, elementary student Kendall Coker races out the door, shoving on her and all her friend's favorite shoes: brown Uggs with pink bows.

Junior Kendall Coker and senior Graci Homan are two of millions who have grown up loving Uggs and trying all of the different styles. "My interest in Uggs started a long time ago; I always wore Ugg boots when I was a kid because my mom was always wearing them," said Homan. "I had almost every color of the Ugg boots. [My mom] would always buy me and my sister them." Even though Homan started out with the Ugg boots, she has grown to also love various styles of Uggs.

In the winter or in the summer, on the beach or in the snow, Ugg shoes have dominated the shoe market to become a staple in millions of people's closets. Since their rise in the early 2000s, Uggs have been made in hundreds of various styles such as the high boots, the ultra mini boots, the slippers and so much more. Uggs took a creative route to catching people's attention and creating something for everyone.

For both Coker and Homan, many of their staple outfits aren't complete without their Uggs. "I style my different types of Uggs in different ways," said Homan. "If I am wearing the slippers, usually I will wear leggings or sweatpants with them. If I have the boots on, I could wear them with jeans or with leggings as well. You can definitely dress them up with a cute sweater and jeans or leggings."

For Coker, the outfit is all about the shoes. "It depends on the shoe. With the slipper, you should dress it down, but with the boots, you can dress it up with jeans," she explained.

The Ugg shoes have had many ups and downs throughout the years, but always seem to make a comeback in the fashion world. There are many different reasons why these shoes are always around.

"The best feature of the Ugg shoe is definitely the material, which is sheepskin, and this makes the Uggs super comfy and great quality," said Homan. These shoes are timeless, long lasting and overall won't be disappointing. Ugg's mission is to empower all people, preserve the planet and craft products that are made to last.

Being a fan of Uggs, Homan also shares similar prospects. "There are definitely a lot of fashion trends I dislike, but I think that everyone should be able to have their own style and express themselves how they would like," said Homan.
